Summer Camp 2011 Staff Night

Camp has officially begun for the staff! Today we arrived around 2pm and had our pre-camp meeting in the coolness of the air-conditioned cafeteria. After Edna’s pizza and Small Compline, we headed to the (hot) pool for some evening swim time. The heat was a little unbearable so we had a little time to just hang out in our cabins. We Have Hit 100!

We have hit the 100 mark! We currently have 70 campers registered (last year we only had 47!!) and 30 staffers. It’s been a LONG time since we had 100 people at camp. In fact, this year will be the first year in over a decade that we will be holding worship services in the basement of the Bloomington House, since we won’t be able to fit in Old Bethel. Winter Camp 2010 Update & Teachings

Winter Camp has been a blast so far! Fr. Joel and Tim gave excellent teachings on the topic of “guilt”, with 42 campers participating in the Q&A and in small groups discussing the teachings! Yesterday was 60 degrees and a mix of sunshine and thunderstorms – thanks be to God for the warm weather! Several of the campers headed out to the activity field for an intense game of football, while others played games and took walks in the beautiful Rivervale woods. We ended 2010 with a service of Thanksgiving for New Beginnings and Fr. Joel anointing all the campers … Continue reading

Winter Camp 2010 Off & Running

With the Winter sun streaming into the Old Bethel chapel window, illuminating the incense hanging in the air, Winter Camp 2010 is off to a running start, with a wonderful praise time and opening session by Sdn. Luke on the theme of “Guilt.” (session recording below)  Campers are now eating snacks and playing a multitude of various board and card games, and having a blast!  Tomorrow we begin with prayer and dive into the theme with lessons from Fr.
