Wednesday Evening & Thursday Morning

We had an excellent evening in the pool last night after some awesome Tae-Kwon-Do lessons from Mark Clevenger.  This morning we all traveled into town to spend time at a nursing home called Mitchell Manor.  Our priests went and prayed for some of the ailing patients while others sang and played bingo with elderly folks in the home.  The Lord continues to bless our time together.  Please continue to pray for our directors, counselors, priests and campers this week!  See the videos below for a peek into the Tae Kwon Do and Nursing Home visit times!

Wednesday is already here!

This week sure is flying right bye. Fr. Joseph Gibson arrived this morning and gave a teaching to the older children. It’s nice to have him back at camp!  The heat index is rather high for the day so our canoe trip for the afternoon activity was rescheduled for Friday.  Tonight we will have Mark Clevenger (a black-belt tae-kwon-do instructor from St’s Constantine & Elena) teaching the children some basic tae-kwon-do; followed by pool time/rock climbing.  We’re looking forward to seeing visitors for Thurday night’s No-Talent-Night!

Camp Olympics & Luau

Tuesday was another hot and sticky day at St. John’s Camp 2012, and definitely a day full of excitement.  The campers participated in several olympic “stations” that ranged from passing a hula-hoop over a line of them holding hands, to eating skittles topped with whipped cream using only their mouths, and trying hard to get NO whip cream on their faces.  Very few accomplished this task… After olympics we all headed up to the pool for the annual Luau that Mr. Bob Abel and Mr. David Becker setup every year for the campers and staff.  This year they were joined … Continue reading

Monday!

Today the younger campers heard lessons from their counselors, and the older campers heard from Fr. Joel Weir (St. John’s Camp Priest), and a panel of priests made up of Fr. Joel Weir, Fr. David Wey, and Fr. James Ellison.  The campers were given the opportunity to ask whatever questions they wanted to of the priests.  The discussion was very good and the campers asked some tough questions!  Despite the heat, much sweaty fun was had, and the campers had a full day of prayer, singing, teaching, and an afternoon filled with arts and  crafts, canoeing, swimming, and some prisoner’s … Continue reading

Camp is Off and Running!

Top of the morning to ya!  Camp is in full swing already and we’re about to begin morning teachings.  We’ll post audio of the teachings as soon as possible. We’ve also got some footage from the first night “ice breaker” games coming soon! The weather is a little on the sticky side but it’s better than last year at least, so far.  Thanks be to God!  Thanks to all parents who made the long trek to camp with your campers – check back soon for more updates!
