Thursday & Friday – Camp Comes To A Close

Thursday brought us two wonderful teaching sessions in the morning, one by Fr. Zachariah and the other by Sdn. Luke, as well as a flurry of activity during the afternoon as everyone prepared their (no) talent for the evening’s main event.

This year provided so much good material that we actually had to think about putting a cap on the number of skits. Who are we kidding? We could never do that. From the “foot-phone” to the crazy alter boys to the land of “Rivervalia”, we have never seen no talent like this before.

Don’t forget the actual talent portion of the night, including a four-part Irish-like musical medley of guitar, djembe drum, violin, and vocals that was so good it belonged in a recording studio. There was also singing, dancing, and playing of other musical instruments.

After no talent night, reflection & dedication time, and an Akathist service that ended at the stroke of midnight, the campers were ready for bed. Despite the busyness of the previous few days, however, campers and staff were ready to participate in Divine Liturgy on Friday morning, and still somehow had energy left to pack up and clean the camp.

Below are some pictures of the last day (and night) of camp:

So that’s it, another wonderful year of camp come and gone. We’re already planning for next year and, as always, we’ve learned a lot from our experiences this summer. Camp will continue to get better and better.

We haven’t forgotten about posting higher-resolution photos, audio from the teachings, and video from various parts of camp, including (no) talent night. Keep checking the blog for updates, and keep an eye/ear out for the distribution of DVDs containing video from camp, as this is a possibility in the future.

Feel free to leave comments if you came to camp, or if you didn’t and are curious about anything else!
