Here they are, the serious and funny versions of the all camp photo and the staff photo. Yes, they’re small pictures because this blog post is being uploaded via a dial-up connection, so please be patient – the full versions will be uploaded as soon as camp is over, and they will be included in the camp media packets.

Teachings

This week has been full of good teachings given by excellent teachers. Some topics covered were the relationship between the body, soul, and nous, how to show our love in actions and not just words/ideas, theosis, and the general state of the Orthodox Church in America. As you know already, Fr. Joseph spoke on Monday, and we’ve been continually blessed with good speakers since then. Here are David Becker and Fr. Monday

Monday was the first full day of camp, and it allowed campers to get into the groove of the schedule and the way camp is structured. The staff started the day with the obligatory cup or two of coffee during the morning meeting, which was accompanied by the soft pitter-patter of rain on the roof of the screened-in porch. After discussing our plans for the day and getting ourselves mentally into the role of counselor, we prepared ourselves spiritually by meeting the campers for morning prayers. Camp '08: Arrival

Sunday saw campers from all over the world (ok Midwest) arriving for camp registration in eager anticipation of the exciting week to come. Luggage was unloaded, bunks became occupied, bathrooms were stocked with toiletries, and friendships were begun. “It’s finally here!” were the words expressed through the eyes of many campers. For the benefit of the first-time campers and familiar faces alike, introduction activities commenced immediately, including camp orientation, followed by ice-breaker games in the tabernacle, followed by Edna’s pizza for dinner, and rounded out nicely with some quality singing and praise time. Meet The Staff Of 2008

Summer Camp 2008 has officially started, and to get things kicked off in stellar fashion, we are pleased to introduce you to our staff.
